Are you afraid of losing your balance, falling, and injuring yourself? There is a way to lessen your risk.
Good balance and mobility are the foundation for a healthy lifestyle. Impairments to your postural stability can limit the extent and type of physical activities you pursue as you age. Improving and maintaining your balance will lessen your chances of falling.
Balance training allows you to move more confidently. These classes are for anyone who has balance issues, including those with inner ear problems, Multiple Sclerosis, or post-polio syndrome.
In our classes you will learn how to:
- Better control your center of gravity
- Deal with balance challenges in all conditions
- Improve the way you walk
- Increase your strength and flexibility
- Respond to balance challenges in the real world
- Become more confident.
We progress you through a series of exercises from low to high levels of balance challenge, and from seated to standing to moving environments. All exercises are performed in a safe, monitored way.
“I have suffered from MS for 20 years. I am blind in one eye and my legs are often shaky. I had lost confidence. I enrolled in Mary’s balance class and I’m now hiking – something I thought I never do again.” – Ed, 57
“My balance had really been compromised by a life of inactivity. I was becoming less mobile and frightened. Mary’s balance class helped me feel stronger and more confident about my balance. I’m less frightened and enjoy things such as taking a walk in the park.” Patrice, 72
